Brrr, it's 62F this morning in Central Florida. Finally, autumn arrived to our slice of paradise.

Today, we're prepping for our RV trip to South Florida, 250 miles down the Pike.

Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful seaside community located on Florida's east coast, 23 miles north of Miami. A drive along A-1A will have you singing Jimmy Buffet songs and taking in the briny air.

The city is named after General William Lauderdale.  He established a series of forts around the region during the Seminole war. Although Fort Lauderdale's year round population is about 170,000 the surrounding metropolitan area and "snow birds" swell it to 5.5 million during winter months.

Fort Lauderdale is called "The Venice of America" for the numerous waterways that crisscross the city. It is 9' above sea level; a subtropical climate with average nights of 79 degrees. There are more than 42,000 registered yachts in the city.

We've booked into Paradise Island RV Resort, near the beach. Plans are for fun and sun with family and friends who live in the area.
