SUNDAY MAY 31, 2015

Good morning. It's another bright beautiful sunny day. We're off to Olivia's for breakfast, and to measure our new table! Haha. We SHOULD have measured it before buying it ... but that's how we roll.

At Olivia's, there was a musical jam session going on. It reminded Mark and me of being in Nova Scotia at a Canadian folk music event.

We saw a lot of teary eyed people there today. The waitresses were visibly upset, as well as the patrons. No one wants Olivia to close her coffee house! (She wants to spend time with her parents, who are in their 80s.)

Musicians from all over Florida are popping in today to be part of the last jam session at Olivia's. (By the way, the table is 46 x 101 with all 3-18" inch leaves in position. Perfect!!!)

I left the table for five minutes, and when I came back, Dawn was acting up. LOL

Here's Dawn being fabulous! Haha. Randy and she had a complete day of boating with Dan and Patty yesterday and they are looking very brown!

This evening, we're invited to Randy's for a beer can chicken. Mark has a London broil in the crockpot, so we will join them and take beef to go with the chicken. Yay, Robbie gets to come along!

I puttered on some "wire wrapping" techniques while Mark washed the car. We got ready to go to Randy and Dawn's when we heard a terrible storm.

We are near the G in Grand Island ... and we dodged a very big storm! LOL. It's sunny here!

Haha. Good thing we have a key! Both phones left on the countertop ... motorcycle gone ... BUT cold beer in their fridge. When RanDawn arrived 15 minutes later, Dawn had invited others to join us. It gets funnier ... she wanted to make corn casserole so Randy went for his recipe file ...

and they began digging through the recycle can. LOL. Dan and Scott arrived from the Hideaway about 630. Randy put the chicken on the barbecue and Dawn put the side dishes in the oven. Dan saw a Tupperware container on the kitchen counter, opened it and took a handful and popped it into his mouth. (He thought he got a handful of peanuts, where actually, he got a handful of Robbie's chicken kibble.) Well, Randy split a side laughing. Dan said "It has no taste!!! How do dogs eat it??? Then,  Dan put Randy in a chokehold. Everyone had taken notice now and was laughing

Dinner was great. Robbie has plenty of chicken in his meal and everyone had seconds. The London Broil was very tasty and tender. The entire evening was lots of laughs.  We left for home at 9:30.

It was a great day. We had lots of fun. I hope your day was fun too. Ta ta!

SATURDAY MAY 30, 2015

Nice 79 degrees this good morning! Sue and Wayne are on the last leg of the drive to their cottage where it's currently 32 degrees! Yikes.

Shorty Hot Pants & Julius were cuddled up in the motorhome this morning. It was 30F outside!

Mark and I had a pretty busy day. We started with a run to the post office, as we sold some billiard ball lights ... three sets of them ... been hanging in our sunroom for seven years, for $30. Ka-Ching! Haha. after the post office, we went to our local Humane Society resale shop. They're always happy to see us and we always find some bargains there! Today, they had two beautiful solid wood arm chairs for a dining room table. They would have suited our 'new' table and chairs, but we have a plethora of chairs right now. We remembered what Jim said, and didn't want our dining room to look like the "Knights of the Roundtable!" LOL.

This afternoon, we were busy taking photos of jewelry I've made and getting it  listed on eBay. Sounds easy, but each item takes a long time to get online.

We thought of bowling today, and Mark wanted to ask Lew and Lynn to go with us. Unfortunately, Lynn is quite sick from having been with the grandchildren in New York. She's taking antibiotics, and, as Lew says, handful of other pills. We hope she hasn't got what Randy had! He's still coughing.

Speaking of Randy, he and Dawn spent the day with Dan & Scott (?) on his boat. Randy called about 930, having just gotten home from a day on the boat!!!

Sue called tonight to say that they had arrived at Anicinanbe in Kenora! Yay, they made it.

So, that was our day. Mark and I watched a movie called "Friends with Benefits" ... very cute and funny. After that, we switched over to the hockey game to watch Chicago win.  Ta ta.

FRIDAY MAY 29, 2015

Hello sunshine! What's up? (It's our usual 73° this morning, going to 90° by 5 o'clock. What else is new, it's summer!)

Today, Mark and I are pulling apart my craft room/garage and moving our existing dining room table. It will become the new art table, appropriately covered with protective padded covers ... and of course a couple of lovely table cloths. One cannot create in an uninspiring place! LOL. So far, 4 table cloths are in the laundry basket just from pulling things apart. Ha. I can't imagine what's going into the vacuum bag around my beading area. I've dropped everything from emeralds to diamonds along with inexpensive glass beads. (Yes, I always try to find them, but on my patterned carpet, it's almost impossible.) LOL. The Oreck had an expensive treat today.

Yes, Mark thought this hilarious. Yes, I admit there's "some" truth to it. LOL

Hours later ... nooks and crannies cleaned, it was time for happy hour by the water. One led to two as it was breezy and nice sitting there. Robbie chased lizzies until I corralled him and put his butt into a chair. Mark was hitting ants with his flip flop so he had to be curtailed as well. (?) GUYS! Me? I enjoyed the wind in the trees and the birds and my Chardonnay. LOL

Randy and Dawn thought they might stop in after taking a weed wacker to son in law Alan. It just occurred to me, RanDawn were on the bike! Was Dawn holding the weed wacker in back? LOL  Anyway, we didn't see them today.

Our dining room is void of table, ready for carpet cleaning tomorrow. Tuesday is "the big day" to pick up our "not so new" table. I'm excited ...

and ordered a 70x144 tablecloth for it.

Yay for Florida's Tampa Bay Lightning!!! They will play for the Stanley Cup. Woohoo.

So that's my thoughts today! Thanks, Rick and Ruth for your message ... I am going for lab work end of June (again).  So far, I have tons extra energy ... poor Mark. LOL

THURSDAY MAY 28, 2015

Mark was first up this morning! Haha. He woke up very early, drank a coffee, and fell asleep in his recliner. (Bad coffee?) LOL. I was up at 6:30 ... doctor appointment at 10.

So how cool is this, a team of yaks!
I found this on Facebook. Pretty cool.

Okay, back to reality. Mark returned to the RV waxing project. All the lower doors are now waxed and all the gutters. The project is moving along ... and the gelcoat looks really good.

Speaking of RVs, Randy's buddy Dan bought a 32' 5th wheel to park at the Hideaway ... his "hideaway" I guess. It's a great idea to have a crash pad for those nights when he shouldn't drive home. Randy went to "help" him move it today.

Next RV update is Sue & Wayne are in Wisconsin for a couple of nights adventure. They seem to be really enjoying their new coach! It's still cold at the lake, so no great rush to be there.

The K-Coach. Nice!

Here's another funny from a Facebook friend ...

Haha!

So, today I saw an endocrinologist ... stay the course with low dose thyroid medication and retest in a month. His analysis was, "I wouldn't have put you on medication!" Hmmm ... note to self; 2nd opinions are a good idea!

This afternoon, I met with my peeps for game day ... and wine! We played a dice game called 10,000 ... lots of fun. I heard about a "possible" Scottie needing rehoming. I offered assistance if needed. We shall see. I don't know the people ...

Tonight, Mark and I had dinner from the awesome "Pizzazz" then watched a movie and relaxed.

That was our day. Hope yours was fan-tabulous. Ta ta.

WEDNESDAY MAY 27, 2015

Well, good afternoon. The morning got away on us. When I opened my email, eBay had sent a notification for free listings. There's always a time constraint on the offer so we got busy photographing Christmas items I tucked away to sell. Ha ha.

Sue and Wayne are in Chicago today getting some work done on their Prevost. Unfortunately, Julius had a grand mall seizure today. We don't know if it's stress induced or not. Poor guy! It's so sad when our furry pals are feeling poorly. These episodes he has sound like epilepsy ... maybe damage resulting from the big dog attack last fall? Sad.

Randy spent his day cutting grass and working around his flowers and garden while Dawn was at work.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with an endocrinologist ... then game day with my girl pals. Mark offered to help Randy take down the dead branch on his front tree, but no decision yet on that.

So that's been our day. Robbie found us incredibly boring today. Haha. We gave him some play time after supper.

I hope your day was fun! Ta ta.

TUESDAY MAY 26, 2015

Good day, at least here in Central Florida where it's 76 and calm. The news out of Texas and Oklahoma is horrible with flash floods and tornadoes. That poor region had been in a drought pattern for years; it needed rain, not this deluge. Awful.

Speaking of Oklahoma ... Bonnie Parker's baby boy Scottish Terrier "Cabbie" had his first big win on his first ever showing!

Cabin Boy ... very handsome!

Congratulations to my pal Bonnie, in turquoise, on the right.

This afternoon, after chores were done, we met Randy and Dawn at the bowling alley for fun, beer & fries. Haha. The fries are really good! Rather than our usual 4 on one lane, we mixed it up with two lanes with the winner of each lane playing each other while, ahem, Randy & I played each other. Our third game was the two bowlers who hadn't played a game together. It was fun!

When we left the bowling alley, it was HOT outside. Yuck. We came home to walk and feed Robbie. Mark made us a chicken stir fry for dinner ... very good!

Tonight we started watching "Texas Rising" on the History channel. So far, pretty good. So that was our day. Ta ta.

MONDAY MAY 25, 2015

Good morning sunshine! It's a lovely 71F, forecast to hit 91 by 5 o'clock.

Happy Memorial Day! Thank you to our Veterans!

A Scottie dog salute! Arooo...

About 1130, Mark and I went for a pontoon boat ride to Barnwoods, a new barbecue joint in Eustis. Unfortunately, it was closed for Memorial Day! What? Memorial Day IS BBQ's and cookouts! So, we walked over to Olivia's ... closed as well! We did find "The Great Pizza Company" on Magnolia open ... and ordered a Ham & Pineapple medium pizza. And beer! What could be more American than that! Perfect.

On the walk back to "Mrs R B" I felt a drop of rain. We got onboard and watched a storm pummel the opposite shore of Lake Eustis. Boats were whizzing about. Haha. We watched the NOAA weather app on our phones and ambled southeast avoiding the storm.

The rain obscured the shoreline ... that boat is just exiting the wall of water.

This evening, Randy and Dawn are coming for a barbecue. Cocktails will be on the boat, followed by barbecued chicken, potato salad and a green salad. There's ice cream and blueberries for dessert! Not too shabby for a last minute decision.  Randy and Dawn were busy today with her daughter Britney and family. Britney adopted a rescue dog. this involved a shopping trip to Petsmart. Ka-Ching. We're happy for Winnie, the lucky dog and lucky family! Congrats to all.

When Randy & Dawn arrived we went to the boat for cocktails ... then went in to cool off (me!) and watch "The Legend of Shelby Swamp Logger". (Dawn hadn't seen it before ... and maybe won't again.) LOL. We had lots of fun ... a good dinner ... and played Balderdash for a few rounds. We quit when our sides hurt from laughing!

At 11:30 RanDawn left for home on the bike. Tomorrow, bowling for lottery tickets. Haha.

SUNDAY MAY 24, 2015

Ha ha. Good morning, but I haven't gone to bed yet! I was looking for a picture of the table I bought from Olivia's restaurant then remembered a picture of Jill and I sitting there with Santa last November!!!

Viola! There it is! Well, at least one of the 3 leaves is in the picture! Ha.

So, good morning (again)! Mark woke me  with an attic "thud" as he installed the new fan! It was a beautiful, breezy start to  this day, so a good time to complete that task.

Speaking of a "thud" ... Jim had a terrible fall yesterday. He joked about "dining and dashing" but we're happy he didn't break any bones.
He apparently went outside for some fresh air, and tripped and fell on the stairs at "My Place" in Keewatin"! After a visit to Kenora hospital and 15 stitches in his hand and his shoulder, it indeed might be "his" place. LOL

Yesterday was Alastair & Mel's 28th wedding anniversary. We sent an email ...

and got this note back ...

So, I read Mel's reply to Mark who said ...

Really, Dad always said that! Haha.

This afternoon, I whipped up a few new items for eBay sales ...
Rough-cut red Carnelian rock unisex necklace - $59 ...

while Mark watched the Indy 500 race. At 4 o'clock we dodge some local showers and went aboard Mrs. R B for happy hour.

Mark put the beer into the freezer for an hour before we left. Ah, perfect.

Robbie enjoyed the wind in his hair, too. He's a funny guy; hardly drinks water all day (often NONE), but put down a fresh bowl with ice at happy hour and he guzzles. Haha. Just like his folks at HH.  LOL

Sue and Wayne are still in Michigan. They're waiting to go for service on the RV in Chicago. Meanwhile, they're out to dinner tonight in Petrosky.

So that's it here. We're watching the NASCAR race tonight. Ta ta.

SATURDAY MAY 23, 2015

Good morning! Mark (and Robbie) were already outside polishing the RV when I emerged from the house. (The side Mark finished looks like new!) It's a beautiful, breezy start to our day at 73F.

It was a relatively uneventful day here. Mark backed the RV into its port while I watched the "edges". As you know, it's a tight fit. No problem for my ace driver. :-)

That done, we took Robbie for a truck ride to refill an RV propane tank. Ace has the best price, according to Lew who "knows all!!!"  LOL Then, we stopped at Winn Dixie so I could "run in" for 4 items. Well, I found the diet sodas right away, but sunflower seeds and iced tea mix evaded me. I had to phone Mark, in the truck for guidance. (How bad is that?) Next in the darn grocery store I had to cash in our winning lotto tickets and buy more for our bowling gutter ball fund. I went to the poorly named Customer Service counter and waited. The store manager was leaning on the counter, his back to customers while talking on his cell phone. He turned to address me and said, "This call is business!" and proceeded to walk into the store office and close the door. (Mark and I have seen this guy in action different times, and he is what we would call a "douche-bag-a-low".) Eventually, Carmen came to work the front desk. I was happy to get out of that grocery store!

Sue phoned this afternoon for a yak. They went to a casino last night hoping to find danceable music but were redirected to a bowling alley complex called Northern Lights.

It looks like fun! Maybe they'll even dance. The doggies are both doing fine!

Congrats to our Nephew Jeremy on the purchase of his first home ... in Asheville!

Happy days, Jeremy. Good job!

Robbie joined us for happy hour by the water tonight. It was breezy and 88. Perfect. That's all the fun we had today! I hope you've had a good one too. Ta ta.

FRIDAY MAY 22, 2015

Hey, it's 430 in the morning and I'm up. What's with that? Mark found this cute cartoon, rather apropos in this household. LOL

Mark and I met Randy and Dawn at Olivia's for breakfast at 10 o'clock. It's one of our favorite restaurants ... and is closing May 31 as Olivia is retiring after 8 years business. Either business was extremely good, or not. LOL. We will certainly miss her unique place. Mark mentioned I might like to make an offer on a huge dining room table in the restaurant. I asked Olivia if she would sell the table. She told me the story of her table. It originally belonged to a local family with 12 children. Then the table was sold to a family with eight children. Olivia bought it from her friend when all the kids left home. After the table joined the mix of furnishings, she noticed a couple enter the restaurant and do a "double take" at the table. She watched as the man walked to one corner of the table and slid his hand underneath. He smiled at the woman and nodded. Olivia asked them, "Can I help you with something?"  That was when she learned the original history of the table. Anyway, it's now coming to our home to be enjoyed at Thanksgiving and Christmas and all sorts of fun gatherings! You see, Olivia and I made a deal. We will pick up the table June 2nd. What fun! (What an expensive breakfast that turned out to be!) LOL

After 5 years of ventilating our attic when the temperature rose to 90F, our industrial fan bit the dust. So, it was a ride to Home Depot to invest $120 in a new fan. Robbie came along for a nice car ride. (He and I sat in the car while Mark shopped!)

At 3 o'clock, we met Randy & Dawn at our bowling alley for some hilarity. It was a day of "averages" for all. Never mind, we burned a calorie ... and only $2 in the gutter ball fund, compliments of Dawn and me. LOL

Tonight, Randy & Dawn are going to the Hideaway to hear the music. Mark and I are staying home and BBQing a pork loin. Yum.

Sue and Wayne are still in Petrosky, Michigan ... poking about and relaxing in their motorhome.

That's our news for today!

This awesome photo was taken last night  of the rope waterspout over Lake Okeechobee.
Gorgeous, eh!!!

Ancient Aliens is coming on the History Channel. Ta ta.

THURSDAY MAY 21, 2015

Good morning. I must get this blog started early in the day. Yesterday, it got away on me! Haha.

Cute little Robbie came in to wake us at 7:30. He's too short to jump on the bed, but stands up and stares at my face. LOL. Of course, I'm a sucker, and get out of bed and lift him up. He's not much of a snuggler but rather likes to play. That's fine, it was time we got up anyway!

Today, Mark hopes to continue polishing the RV. Apparently, there's a build up on the gelcoat from the "wash and wax" product he used in the past. Drat. Now he has to compound it, then wax. Once the side that faces the house is done, he can back it in and do the opposite side gradually.

Me? I'd like to go bowling later today!

"Our" contractor, Tom from Simplex will be adding on the front porch that I've been wanting. Yay. It will be shingled to match the house roof and the front will (eventually) have river rock trim.  I can't wait to sit there in a rainstorm! Speaking of storms, this beaut was just 40 miles from us.

Awesome! Wowsa!

So, Mark was too tired from polishing to bowl. Instead, we did our daily post office run ... and went for ice cream! Haha. Robs came along for the ride. When we arrived home, the mail had arrived and there was Robbie's "Hyper Doggie Bag"!

Opening the package ...
(I love Robbie's teddy bear legs! Muah!)

"Hurry Dad!!! Put the batteries in it!!!" said Rascal Robbie.

"I killed it! LOL. What fun." (Me, that's $12 down the drain. LOL!"

Sue and Wayne are staying near Petrosky, Michigan until Monday. The weather has been cool at the cottage, so there's no rush to get there! They went for Italian food tonight!

Lookin' good Wayne!

Jim sent a message concerned that I'd ebay'd everything in the house. Haha. You'd not notice a thing missing! It's all 'stuff' that was hiding in drawers ... 105 items so far.

Tomorrow morning, we're meeting Randy and Dawn at Olivia's for breakfast. Our favorite breakfast spot is closing May 31. Olivia is retiring! WTF! Hopefully, someone else will pick up the slack and take over the restaurant. It's been popular in downtown Eustis.

So that's our news for today. Ta ta.

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

WEDNESDAY MAY 20, 2015

Well, it was another busy day doing "something"!

The "Whale's Tail" was the lunch location for this month's ladies gathering. It's a cute place on Old 441 that features homemade seafood. The menu was fairly extensive ... and everyone enjoyed their order. It's definitely a repeat place! There were 16 gabbers this month. I caught up on neighborhood news and wasn't surprised to find two homeowners who sold and moved last year have repurchased homes in our community again! Suzanne bought on Cypress ... the same street she used to live on ... and Anne bought on Quail Run ... the same street she lived on. Funny! That was an expensive lesson learned.

Mark did our Walmart run and saw Dawn at work, then picked up more RV wax and our list of 40 items. (At this time of year, waxing is an evening chore.) Robbie enjoyed some outdoor time while Mark worked. Me? I called my doc's office to report a throat tightness from the levothyrodine pills. (Take half!) then, I made two jewelry sets for sale. Tomorrow, I'll do some eBay photos.

Sue and Wayne had a bumpy travel day. The roads were quite rough and they decided to stop earlier than planned south of Saginaw.

Driving through Cincinnati. Traffic looks light ... a nice travel day.

This looks like a nice campground!!! Perfect for BBQ chicken. Haha.

Randy was just worn out when Mark phoned him. He's waiting for a call from the doctor's office to set up another test.

So that was our day.

Tuesday, May 19, 2015

TUESDAY MAY 19, 2015

Good morning! It's a busy one for us! I had 4 eBay items to wrap and box ... clean the bird baths ... feed Robbie ... clean the kitchen (yuck) ... vacuum the RV ... and have my soda. LOL. Whew! Do you think my thyroid pills are too strong??? Haha.

Mark was a little slower moving than me. He tried using the electric buffer on "Gel Coat" wax on the RV, but it was streaky and hazy. We think the product is bad ... so that job waits til we buy a new, different wax.

Today is Melanie's birthday ... I love the cat's interest in her flowers!
Happy happy Mel.

This afternoon we're meeting Randy & Dawn for bowling ... here for happy hour ... then Stavros for dinner.

Bowling was a hoot! We didn't prepay, as we usually do, as the man at the counter said, "Pay when you're done ... I know you guys!"

So, when we were finished our 3 games, Randy gave Dawn money & his discount card to pay for their 6 games. Dawn paid the bill and scooted over to the door.

Mark walked up to pay our 6 games (less 1 free one as we have a discount card, too.) The nice pierced guy at the counter told Mark "That'll be $33."  WHAT???  Well, we got it sorted out as he thought we were on different lanes.

(I was the high score!!!) Amazing. LOL.

We were all leaving as the young guy called Randy ... "I haven't charged you yet!" Haha. Randy owed for his 3 games. "Here's my card for a free game." he said.

"Well no," the man at the counter said, "she already used that card for her games!!!" Randy started laughing ... not only did he give Dawn money to pay for both their bowling games, but she used his discount card for herself. After we got it all sorted out and were laughing, the guy behind the counter said to Randy, "Alright, we'll see you next time." Randy said, "You'll see me but I'll be bringing a different girl!!!" Hahaha. We do have lots of fun bowling! The gutter ball fund made $10 today!

Robbie was so happy to see Uncle Randy and Dawn. He appreciated happy hour being at home and sat in a bar stool for cheese and crackers with us. LOL. Afterwards, the 4 of us went to Stavros for dinner. It was great! Unfortunately, Randy is still not feeling very well.

Sue and Wayne are in Kentucky for the night. There was a FedX train wreck today that stopped traffic. They decided to stay in Georgetown and carry on tomorrow. Julius apparently had a couple of episodes during the day. Such a worry.

Well, that's it for tonight. It's TV:30 now. :-) ... Mark is sawing logs while I watch DWTS Finale. Ta ta.

Monday, May 18, 2015

MONDAY MAY 18, 2015

Good (sunshiny) day! It's 72 this morning and we have eBay parcels to ship!

Mark went to our Humane Society thrift store with a bag of donations, and to shop for goodies. You never know what you'll find in that store! (He was going that direction for grocery.)

Me? I washed the bedding, towels and repacked the RV with basic supplies. The fifth wheel serves as our emergency homebase. If there's a hurricane or other disaster, it's our 2nd home ... with wheels!

Speaking of wheels, Sue & Wayne enjoyed a day of sightseeing in Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg (Alpine village feel) today. (A future trip is in the planning stage for next fall.) Tomorrow they're driving to Michigan for a couple of nights. (There was snow at the cottage last night, so no rush.) LOL

Mark made a pot of 5 bean soup today ... and we had it for dinner. (It was very good.)

Mark, waxing the rig before it goes into the RVport.

I worked on Ebay listings today by adding a dozen items. Tonight ... TV relaxing. Tomorrow, bowling with Randy & Dawn.

Sunday, May 17, 2015

SUNDAY MAY 17, 2015

Good day, eh! Mark tossed Robbie on the bed at 8 o'clock and woke me. I had a restless night, and thought it was about six in the morning. Ha ha. Not so, it was time to get up!

Mark noticed a text with pictures from Wayne and Sue on my phone. A motorhome burnt in the Perry, Georgia RV stop where they were staying last night. At 2 AM, they were awoken by pounding at their door. Neighbors came to wake them in case they had to move their RV. From the photos, it looks like it's a gas engine Dynasty class "A" motorhome, and that the fire started in the engine compartment.

Luckily, everyone got out alive!

Sue and Wayne are going to Pigeon Forge for a day or two exploring. It's still quite chilly at the lake, so no great rush to get there! They spotted a nice affordable camper for Randy.

Haha.

Julius is feeling better ...
Here, Julius and Shorty are on Sue's lap. Life is good ... they like to travel.

Mark and I arrived home about 230, got unloaded, did laundry and relaxed. We really enjoyed our trip to Saint Augustine! On our drive home, we phoned Rod and Shay. They are still unpacking, well into week two! Lightweights in the moving department, huh? Haha. Shay said they have one casual outfit, one good outfit, and bathing suits each. Other than that their clothes are somewhere in boxes. LOL.

Sue and Wayne arrived at pigeon Forge, and found a beautiful campsite.
Julius, on the picnic table, Wayne, and Shorty Hotpants relaxing.

In Umatilla, we saw this adorable goat, safely being transported in the back of his owners truck.

We arrived home about 230, having had a very good weekend.

Randy and Dawn called about 6 o'clock, after a busy day with Makenna and Charlotte. We plan to get together with them on Tuesday for bowling.  We missed seeing Scott as he left around noon today.

So that was our day. How was yours? Ta ta.
