THURSDAY, JULY 24, 2014

Okay, okay! I know I posted this last night but here it is again for our "Official" record! Mark's total score for 13 rounds of Mexican Dominoes is ... 75 !!!  Wow.

Mark celebrated the new record. LOL

Meanwhile, at Sue's and Wayne's cottage the new shed base is ready. Monty has volunteered to help Wayne with assembly. (Mark says "Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey!")

Shed base is ready! Good job Wayne.

Wayne and Monty working on the new shed.

Sue took this great picture of "big bunny" in the sunshine.

This morning, Mark and I went to our local farmer's market where we bought corn, tomatoes and onions. Tonight, he's grilling corn on the cob, salmon and rice. We went tried to get some exercise by walking around the flea market, but it was just too hot for me! I lasted about half an hour!

Maggie and Robbie "helped" with garden chores today. LOL. They are great lizard hunters.

Mark puttered around with a few things ... vacuuming the A/C line and trimming the seed pods from our queen palms. I made phone calls to Minnesota about Maggie's biopsies and got frustrated. No answers yet. :-(. Sue offered to phone ... and did ... and found out another lab is currently looking over the slides. Maybe we'll know what to do soon.

LOL. Mark poached salmon in white wine and butter for dinner. I was prepared to say just how delicious it tasted ... and then I bit into it and blurted out "Aargh, it's pretty good."  We both had a good laugh. I'm just not a salmon person. Haha.

After dinner, we played two games of Scrabble and Mark was the winner BOTH times. "Who's the man?" he asks. LOL

Ta ta for now.

Pease-porridge hot, Pease-porridge cold
Pease-porridge in the pot, Nine days old.

Some like it hot, Some like it cold
Some like it in the pot, Nine days old.

What brought this on, you say? A crossword puzzle! The clue was ?porridge. From somewhere in the depths of my brain, I remembered Nan and my Mom saying this nursery rhyme! It's an oldie, 1760 Circa. LOL. Sue will tell me that was a repressed memory!!! LOL

It's a beautiful morning. Mark and I got our chores done and took the dogs for a boat ride at 9:30.

Maggie and Robbie were enjoying sitting beside me until Mark decided he needed a picture and whistled to get our attention. And, this is the picture he got. LOL.

Robbie and Maggie are on the watch as we putt down our canal. There were a lot of birds out today. We enjoyed watching an Osprey dive and catch a fish. It was apparently quite a large one as he had trouble gaining altitude. We arrived home at 11:30 ... before the heat of the day. Perfect!

The "little" crepe myrtle got big with all the rain this summer!

Maggie and Robbie were happy to visit at Linda's and Randy's! Maggie found the Garfield toy and did a spinning dance in their living room. She really wants to give her auntie Linda a kiss! LOL. We heard Linda say, "Hey! Get outta here!" To Maggie. Hahaha. Randy laughed ...

Tonight is Mexican Dominoes after we enjoy Randy's (homegrown) Eggplant Parmigiana.

It's a late-night update!!! Mark holds the new low score for Mexican dominoes, 75!!! He broke Randy's record of 88 from 10 years ago!!!

Yeehaw!!!

TUESDAY, JULY 22, 2014

Good morning y'all. It's another nice day in paradise. Our pals Rod and Shay phoned last night and were surprised to find us at home in Florida! They just returned from a trip to visit family in the Florida Keys. The weather was great and they had plenty of water toys to amuse themselves with.

Last night, we sat on the patio and drank wine, Mark had a cigar and the Scotties went lizard hunting. It was beautiful ... a nice breeze; and then an hour later, thunder and the first rain since we arrived home.

Mark and I have more toys to clean!  :-(
Mrs R B has patiently waited for our return. She's been in the boathouse, loosely draped in sheets. Rub a dub dub ... she needs a scrub. It's not as bad as last year but elbow grease is needed!

This morning, it was cool enough so Mark started scrubbing the boat while I did laundry.

Mornings and evenings are nice ... midday, forget-a-bout-it. LOL. I went for a mani-pedi in town. Nice treat.

Slowly, we're getting "back to normal" ... maybe a boat ride tomorrow? When I say "boat ride" the Scotties race to the back door. They're ready!

Here's one Jim will like. LOL. It's incentive alright.

That's it for today. Ta ta.

MONDAY, JULY 21, 2014

Yesterday, Mark and I put the RV to bed until October's KOA Rally. We cleaned it from one end to the other ... plus did a few minor repairs, changed or cleaned filters etc. It's more fun when toys come out of storage looking (and smelling) new. Haha. "Fresh", as my mom would say. (She used to hide our favorite toys for a few weeks so they'd come out "fresh"!!!) Egad I'd be mad at her!

Last night, Randy popped in around 5 for a visit. Pedro was Linda-watching ... so, we caught up on news and Mark made us a big salad for dinner. There were storms all around us, but no rain. Randy left about 8 for home, on the bike.

Maggie got her stitches out! I bet she feels a lot better now! She laid still while I talked to her and Mark clipped and removed the stitches.

Apparently this sign drums up business for the auto body shop! LOL

Today's adventure was to mail trip souvenirs to our granddaughters as well as Haley's birthday present. Our local post office is small town friendly! The postmaster personally selected the priority mail box ... everything just fit, to save us money. Then we had a gab since I was the only customer at 11 am. Great!

After that, we drove to Mount Dora in search of a wine-making store. We found it, but, alas it's closed on Monday! From a peek in the window, it's not a wine-making supplier!

So, it was off to our Walmart for a few items. As Walmart's go, this is a good one!

Randy phoned to say he had booked Darlene's air travel for August 7th. She's coming to visit Linda and help Randy with Linda's home care. She will be here a week!

John Walsh of "America's Most Wanted" fame now has a new weekly show ... "The Hunt with John Walsh" on Sunday evenings on CNN. We will be watching!

This afternoon, Mark washed the Dodge while I cleaned and vacuumed the interior. It's covered now ... on vacation after a long trip. LOL

That's it for today! It's wine:30. Cheers!

SUNDAY, JULY 20, 2014

It's a bright, sunny Sunday morning! Let's start the day with a laugh or two!

I felt the giggle start before I finished reading the last sentence! Heeheehee.

As a kid, the highlight of my Sunday mornings was reading the colored comics in the newspaper; and the aroma of Dad cooking bacon and eggs in the frypan. Great memories!

SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2014

Good morning sunshine! It's another beautiful day in sunny Florida.

USA news is all about border control and illegal immigrants.

Right!!! We could all use the benefits. LOL. Dad used to say he should have come to America on a raft ... not the honest way!

We're still puttering away on RV chores. I finished oiling the wood, Mark brought the last of the trip goodies to the house, I sorted the receipts and filed three months' paperwork and Mark cleaned the RV carpets. Now, the exterior wash and wax! Maybe tomorrow ...

Mark wanted to make homemade weed killer. So, we were off to Home Depot for supplies ... (if it works, he'll share it.)

Meanwhile, at the cottage, Sue is making lasagna! It's apparently a rainy day, and perfect for cooking.

Lasagna is a big job! I bet she wishes Mark and I were there to help. Haha.

Last night's dock party at Penny and Bob's was great. Apparently there was a very good turnout, despite high winds and of course the high water. The good news was, the wind kept the mosquitoes and blackflies away!!! Yay!

Today is Linda's and Randy's 34th wedding anniversary. When I phoned, they were sitting on the back deck enjoying the sunshine and 90° weather. Randy was busy getting airfare and tickets for Darlene (Gregg's wife) to come visit in August. Unfortunately, Gregg is unable to fly because of health issues.

This evening, we're just going to sit quiet and watch some TV ... a NASCAR race is on.

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2014

It's another bright day in the Sunshine State. The Scotties and I snuck out early this morning and let Mark sleep late; well, until 8:30!

Our Chinese Wisteria is blooming! Sweet.

Today's agenda is ... finish unloading the RV ... Orange Glo the interior (oak) and then get ready for a swim and BBQ with Lew and Lynn!

At 9 o'clock I phoned the University of Minnesota for Maggie's biopsy results. Dr Corbin "will call" me back shortly. Hmm, I heard that Wednesday ... so this time I asked, "What's YOUR name?" I suspect this time I will get a call back whether or not results are ready. Meanwhile, we began a new food regime for both Scotties of raw broccoli chopped, chicken, Wellness low calorie kibble and for Maggie, Milk Thistle and Sam-e.

Apparently Canada's cold air has left our area ...

a swim is going to feel good by 4 o'clock!

Meanwhile, Julius is enjoying some sunshine at the lake.

The poor guy has very sensitive eyes in the sun. He needs "Doggles"!

Lew and Lynn were great hosts! We all bobbed around in their pool for a couple of hours with cocktails and then ... huge steaks on the grill. Everything was great! After, we went back in the pool and Lynn served dessert! Eclair cake! It was very nice! More wine and more relaxing in the pool. Finally, we walked home at 9 o'clock. LOL.

It was a great day! (Except, no return call from the vet! Again!).
