MAY 26, 2013 - KELOWNA

Ruth and Rick stopped in to get Randy and Linda for a hike down the canyon. Sue asked Mark to cook the big breakfast because Wayne was coughing! It was rush seating as everyone ate two at a time. Delicious!!!

Sue and Julie drove to West Kelowna to visit Angie and Michael Wills. It was a nice reunion ... wine and lunch. Michael is coming to the campground tomorrow for coffee and visit. :-)

Mark did some "handydodee" repairs while Randy made homemade chicken soup ... Wayne needed Jewish penicillin.

Tonight we are all going to Moir's for dinner.

MAY 25, 2013 - VANCOUVER TO KELOWNA

We planned on an 8 am departure for Kelowna, 240 miles away, and a four night stay. We're ready for a relaxing time after a month of busy schedules.

It was a gorgeous valley drive on #1 ... Bridal Veil Falls, flower farms, dairy farms; all pretty.

On Highway 3, there was no phone or Internet reception and Mark had to stop. I saw Snass Creek and took a pic. We found Kurians pulled off the road, worrying and waiting for us. Sue made a pot of coffee and all the dogs had a walk.

At 4418' there was snow on the ground! We arrived about 2:30, set up and got organized. Canyon Farm RV Park is a clean, tidy working farm. Wayne "ordered" 18 fresh eggs for delivery the next morning.

Rick and Ruth dropped over for cocktails but went home rather than join us at Gallagher's Canyon for dinner. Everyone slept great and didn't hear the rooster at daybreak!

MAY 24, 2013 - VANCOUVER, CANADA

Wayne isn't feeling well today so he's offered to do our banking and dog walking whilst the rest of us go to Capilano bridge. Julie recalls being abandoned on the old wooden bridge at age 3 ... face your fear says Mark. Uh-huh. We shall see!!! "Old" photo below, just for comparison.

Capilano Suspension Bridge was a wonderful nature experience. The trails were beautiful with 7 suspension bridges through the treetops.

MAY 23, 2013 - O CANADA

We left Crescent Lake RV Park at 8:58 am. It was 48 degrees and cloudy. Wayne and Sue bought a new Garmin, specifically programmed for RV travel. Hallelujah.

We ate prawns for breakfast, as they weren't labeled properly to cross the border into Canada. Yummy.

The road through the Skagit Valley is beautiful. **A few hours later, a bridge on I-5 over the Skagit River collapsed!!!

11:15 am we went through Canadian Customs and were on our way. A panic call came from Sue that their brand-new GPS had quit working. LOL. Mark and Julie took the lead and all arrived at Cariboo RV Park ... very neat and clean, but very small sites.

Sue and Wayne went to meet a friend for dinner at the port, so Linda, Randy, Mark and Julie went to Chinatown to see the sights. OMG, did we ever see this sights! At one point, Mark spotted 40 bums down one alley!!! Randy couldn't believe Mark's story, so he ran back to have a look for himself. He thought someone may be filming a zombie movie down the alley! LOL. Anyway, we ate at the Garden Villa and the Chinese food was delicious. When we got back to the parking lot we took a picture of a mural. Mark noticed someone sleeping, or passed out behind our truck while backing out of a parking space. Randy had to get out and get a picture! Lots of laughs.

We drove through Stanley Park, browsed a gift shop, took a few pictures of totem poles and went to explore Gastown where parking is next to impossible!

MAY 22, 2013 - SEATTLE

Sue, Wayne, Linda and Randy have gone exploring Seattle's waterfront this morning. Mark and Julie are meeting friends for dinner at the waterfront tonight. It's a cool drizzly day. Everyone slept in this morning!

Meanwhile, back at the RV park, Robbie is snoozing with the fireplace on.

Sue and Wayne have gone wine shopping, Randy and Linda have gone for haircuts, and Mark and I are in traffic on I-5. 

Arrived on the waterfront, found some interesting pier shops and then Elliott's. Apparently panhandling is a Seattle career. Accosted before we parked!!  Elliott's Oyster House was a great place on the pier! Emmy and Stuart Chisholm met us and it was a great evening !

Meanwhile, Randy had hors d'oeuvreswof fresh, big prawns ... then out for Italian food.

Linda got a new hairdo, and Mark was calling her Miss Canada.

It appears Linda is packing it on like the rest of us. LOL. 

MAY 21, 2013 - SEATTLE HERE WE COME

Rain, rain and more rain forecast for our travel today. We were on the road at 8 am with 290 miles to Pleasant Lake RV in Seattle area.

Stopped at a rest area when the rain quit and walked the doggies. 208 miles to go.

Portland, Oregon is a sprawling city bisected by the Columbia River.

At 10:30 we passed Mt. St. Helen ... shrouded in rain but clearly missing her top after the 1980 eruption.

Hot lunch today at Lou's Grill n Truck Stop ... good grub. Back on the road at 1:00 with 84 miles to go.

14 miles to our destination ... Seattle skyline in the distance. Arrived 2:30 to Pleasant Lake RV Park ... very picturesque.

Sue, Wayne, Linda and Randy have gone to Walmart to shop. Mark and I are getting our showers done and reorganizing the RV.

MAY 20, 2013 - OREGON - PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY

We've been on the road 23 days, but this is by far the most scenic.

Coos Bay, Oregon ... a pretty town with rhododendrons blooming everywhere, a bustling port area, and sand dunes.

At noon, Mark spotted a herd of 12 elk along the Umpqua River.

1:00 pm a slight kerfuffle occurred. Wayne turned into an Elks High School parking lot, and bottomed out. He and Randy had to unhook the Escalade, then Mark held the hitch while Wayne backed up and eventually drove down a hill with Mark trotting behind him holding the hitch. Dammit. I couldn't get my camera quick enough. LOL

Randy was hot dog chef tonight ... Cascade mountains in the background. It was a beautiful evening.
