FRIDAY AUGUST 7, 2015

Good morning Central Florida. It's a hot, humid day coming up! Never mind, we have indoor pursuits. Haha. Perhaps not what you're thinking. LOL. 

I began my day by wrapping two frames for shipment. It was quite an ugly box that I created, and in fact might win the ugly box award! But, Mark thought it looked fine and off to the post office he went with two packages! The post office has become quite a social event as Cheri, the lovely clerk, knows everyone, of course, from working there. Today, Mark was coached her on painting bathroom tiles rather than replacing them. 

Meanwhile, I cleaned the kitchen and tidied up for Mark's continuing bead board project and then moved on to cleaning bathrooms! Oh boy! Not anyone's favorite job. 

About 330, we headed out. Mark dropped me at Hobby Lobby and went onto the Home Depot for more project supplies. I was on a quest for a wedding present for Olivia and Derek. Although we will give them a check, I wanted something for their new apartment. After going up and down every aisle twice, I zeroed in on a beautiful oval mirror, medium-sized, in a pale gold finish. Perfect!

Our friend Bonnie, in Tulsa Oklahoma, posted a beautiful picture on Facebook. The wee Scottie is Ella, about 18 weeks old! All beauties! 

Oh, Robbie would love that little babe. Ha!

Happy Hour on the front porch was lovely at 6 o'clock. A strong storm was forecast but petered out before it got to us. After dinner, we relaxed with Ancient Aliens  and Cold Justice. 

My nephew Gregg phoned to check on me. He needs a blood transfusion...but yet thought of me. Nice. He's waiting to hear from his doctor. 

So that's our news for today. A fairly quiet one. 

THURSDAY AUGUST 6, 2015

Good morning from Central Florida! Plans for today ... the kitchen backsplash project. Yeah! Actually, Mark started it yesterday while I was at the doctor. He set up in the sunroom and put a first coat of gold paint on the bead board panels. Smart, isn't he! There will be a 2nd coat needed after installation, but much easier. So, today I ran the outside errands and he moved an electrical switch, then cut and nailed panels. It'll be a few days work ... but a nice cool inside job. (It's hot ... it's summer ... 88 and going to 90.)

Walgreens had their version of Zyrtec on sale this week. I got the last bottle at our store ... .11 cents a tablet for the 300 count. What a great bargain. Thanks for telling us about it Randy! We needed a few things, and I found some other good bargains. Their Studio Beauty Alpha Hydroxy was on sale ... $8.49 and 50% off the 2nd one. Excellent deal. I use it "all-over". Years ago, Dr. Christian, my Boca Raton dermatologist, told me to use it daily to prevent 90% of skin diseases and pre-cancerous lesions. Actually, his other advice was to take a baby aspirin daily.

It was too hot for outside happy hour ... so, "Cheers!" from in front of the Telly. Haha. I watched two NASA shows ... with great interest. Mostly NASA "explains away" UFO phenomenon ... but not all. 

Look at this cool UFO pic from the ISS. It's apparently about a mile long! WTF?!

So, tonight is the Republican candidate's debate on FOX News. So far, only one or two candidates have even attempted to answer a question. It's going to be many glasses of wine in order to watch this crap. LOL 

Have you been watching the show "Alone"? It takes place on the north end of Vancouver Island ... anyway, that's what we watched this evening. Four contestants are left; a deep freeze and snow moved in. I'm pretty sure that Mark would do better than any of these men! Last man earns $500,000. Of the 10 originals, only four remain. Our Florida contestant from Umatilla tapped out on day four or five.

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5, 2015

Ka-Ching! OMG, I awoke to 5 eBay sales overnight. There was no time to wake-up ... haha ... it was wrapping and packing time. One item, a kyanite necklace set, looked tired; so I remade it with new Sterling Silver components. Mark took all to the post office and finally, at 11:30, we sat down to watch the morning news. 

After lunch, Randy popped in for a visit while doing his errands. Once again, I was wrapping and packing! Haha. Our friend Bonnie shopped and bought 3 items! Yay! So, at 3 o'clock I left for the 2nd post office run of the day and then onto Dr. Young's office. (Mark and Randy enjoyed their visit while I was out.) Robs was very happy to see Randy BUT tried to reserve his affection for Dawn ... who was at work today. Wha-waa. 

No, this isn't Robbie ...

but he's just as awesome! Actually, Robbie would be riding it backwards as he's always "trying" to go in the opposite direction from us. It's true. We call him "Wrong-way Robbie" when we walk. LOL 

Well, I've recovered enough to resume "light duties". Actually, another week to be in the clear, but my oxygen level was up to 98% and pulse down to 70, blood pressure good. Apparently, I'll live. Yay. (No more sandbagging!) LOL

Meanwhile, in the great north, Wayne took Larry and Maggi fishing today (visiting from B.C. this week). Sue sent a cute pic of her boys enjoying "my" recliner at their cottage. 

Last summer, I tried to sit in that chair but was snarled at by Shorty-Hotpants. (I don't think I'd get away with it this year either!) LOL. I think the boys are saying, "Hurry up. Take the picture already Mom!" Haha. 

Mark and I follow our "local" Scottie rescue and are on their list to foster, if ever needed. 

Sweet, sweet faces, everyone of them. Isn't it great that these rescues found a home! Yay. (We miss our Maggie, a rescue through Bonnie in Tulsa, so very much!)

Well, it was Happy Hour when I came home about 5 ... then Mark had a great "leftovers" meal of pasta and meatloaf ready! Perfect. We ate in front of the Telly watching "NASA's Unexplained Mysteries."  It's pretty good ... well, I thought it was but then I heard Mark snoring. Haha. 

So, that was our day! It was brutally hot at 96F so no outdoor fun for me. No complaints though. It was a busy one. I hope YOUR day was great, too. Ta ta. 

TUESDAY AUGUST 4, 2015

OMG we were "late" getting up this morning! It was nearly 9 o'clock before we staggered to the kitchen. 

After breakfast, Mark went to the post office with one package and then onto our bank with a "mystery" check. Yesterday's mail brought a $161 bonus. As we weren't expecting anything, I asked Mark to phone his pension board. The answer, "I guess we made a mistake. Go ahead and cash it." (Well alright then!)

Hahaha ... Come on, that's funny!

We had a relaxing afternoon, just puttering about ... plus a nap. At six, we met Randy and Dawn at the bowling alley for supper, beer and bowling. It was good fun and we burned a calorie. Ha!

Tomorrow, I'm off to doc's to check on my pneumonia prognosis. We shall see. So that's it for today. Short and sweet. 

MONDAY AUGUST 3, 2015

I watched sunrise from my front porch with Robbie by my side ... and DSO on ice. Ah, yes, I'm feeling much better after a decent sleep. The rain began as Mark woke about 8 o'clock ... an all morning event! 

We had errands to run today ... post office ... Pet Supermarket ... and Walmart. Randy and Dawn planned to drop in later for a visit. Fun!

About 4ish, RanDawn arrived and we sat outback to enjoy happy hour, or two. LOL. We had fun hearing about Randy's weekend adventure in Cincinnati. When he was headed home yesterday, some chatterbox man at a bar asked Randy what he was doing in Kentucky. "Kentucky!!!" said Randy, "I thought I was in Ohio!!!"  LOL. The States are pretty close there and he'd crossed over at the airport. Haha. We were sure happy to have them visit ... it got us out of our summer doldrums.

Mark cooked us a delicious meatloaf and potato casserole tonight. Good skills!

So that was our day! Tomorrow, we'll see how our strength is for a game of bowling!

SUNDAY AUGUST 2, 2015

Good day, eh? It's lovely here, a bit cooler at 82F. 

After a breakfast of cheesy-eggs, and chores accomplished, we sat down to plan our RV trip. Pickings are slim near Ashland, Mississippi for RV accommodations (or ANY) so we planned on Cherokee RV Park in Saulsbury Tennessee. Well, 35 minutes later, no reservations! It seems "a pop-up window" on their "Thousand Trails" website has US as a "no pay" from 2010. Tomorrow will be soon enough for the aggravating task of sorting through the mistake. 

Mark made a run to Winn-Dixie for bread, yogurt and wine, then returned the casserole dish to Lew and Lynn. We finished the sausage, green peppers and pasta for lunch. Yummy. Lynn asked how we were doing. Mark said he was about 90% better and me 75%. That seems about right! 

Poor Rob was sick again. We think he may have eaten a lizard a couple of days ago when he was in the backyard with Mark! Yesterday, he barfed twice ... now today a green poop-pie!  10 minutes later, he's over it and playing! Meanwhile, his humans have to clean it up. LOL 

This was my therapy today! A new eBay listing. 

When I looked through my blue coral pieces I found three with lovely turquoise hues mixed in. A couple of pearls and voila! 

Happy hour at 4:30 was thwarted by our neighbor's spreading lawn chemicals on a windy day! Jim sprayed grass killer, while his two kids ran bare foot, sticking grass plugs hither and yon in the ground. (???) No one bothered to water the new plugs so we're pretty sure that was a wasted effort. 

Just had a message from Dawn that Randy will be home within the hour. On his return flight, he sat next to a girl with two kids.  One screamed and cried all the way, and the other called Randy "Daddy!" LOL. He will certainly be happy to get home and see that Dawn has cooked dinner for him!!!

SATURDAY AUGUST 1, 2015

Welcome the new month of August! As a school child, it was a depressing day! Why? It signified the middle of our summer holidays! Mom started sewing outfits for we girls for the first day of school ... right after Labor Day! Then the school supplies list arrived in the mail! Egad, how I hated school. 

Haha. I opened my email and an Oscar de la Renta ad for back to school dresses! Hilarious. 

Anyway, I digress. LOL. Happy August! After our morning chores, Mark left for the post office with two eBay packages! My handmade jewelry sales are going fairly well. I'll never get rich on them, nor make any money. Ha ha. But it sure is nice that others see quality in my creations. What a lovely hobby for me! 

Lew arrived with a delicious casserole dish of sausages, peppers, onions and pasta that Lynn prepared for our dinner. Lew said, "I opened the tins of tomatoes!"  It was touching to have friends bring over a meal. Nice. Mark wanted to get into it right at 4 o'clock, but I made him wait until six and boy did we enjoy it!!!

It was so beautiful, a lovely 76° and breezy so we sat outside an hour and 15 minutes for a two-round of wine happy hour. The birds were abundant for awhile. We have a naughty black tomcat in our area spraying our truck tires. Robbie watched the cat skulk past our house then started yelling at it! Really ... a Scottish war cry. Ha. I don't think that cat was the least bit concerned. 

This evening, we watched the movie Schindler's List. Of course we saw it in the 90s, but had forgotten much of it. It was certainly a good movie.
