SUNDAY, JULY 7, 2013

Up and out at 9 o'clock to Yesterday's for breakfast!  A Sunday tradition. We decided our very efficient waitress could teach the stiletto gals at Lake of the Woods Brewing Company some waitressing skills!

Sue and Wayne took the pups for haircuts while Mark and Julie took Pam to Reddens for retail therapy. Julie bought a green Kenora dinner jacket and Mark bought a booby shot glass for our buddy Lew Zido's bar!  Pam refrained from spending until we got to Keewatin Place where she bought pork chops for dinner. LOL

Mark, Pam and Julie stopped in to visit Lynne and Les Stevenson on their Mainship at Northern Harbour. They are staying a week on board.

Pam is reading at the glider, Mark is fishing and Julie is tidying up Chippy's Hollow for tonight's dinner party.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK !!!

Today's festivities ... Kenora for lunch by boat ... dinner, steak BBQ on the dock.

Pam spoiled Mark with gifts galore including Minnetonka moccasins and a bottle of Myers Rum.  Sue and Wayne spoiled him with a "Kenora dinner jacket" and Man Cave sign for "the shed"!  Julie gave him a Lake of the Woods "Chip 'n Pepper" shirt and a fishing poster.

We all lunched at Lake of the Woods Brewing Company ... good Sultana Gold beer. Lunch was very slow coming but good.  We were there 3 hours!!!  The waitresses were trying to walk in high heels, not well, and ALL had band aids on their feet. LOL

Birthday dinner was GREAT!  Salad, steaks and perogies ... and chocolate cake.  Thanks Sue and Wayne!

FRIDAY, JULY 5, 2013

Awoken this morning by a mighty thunderstorm, heavy rain and pea-sized hail.  Downed trees caused a power outage in the town of Keewatin.

Lynne and Les Stevenson dropped in with a Costco package for Sue and Wayne and joined us for lunch.

Downtown for browsing and dock party horde oeuvres.  Arrived John and Alex  Harbottles about 5:45. It was hot, muggy and still.  What a lovely party though!  Bruce and Charlie were 'twins'!!!  LOL

IT'S INDEPENDENCE DAY

Happy 4th of July America!  Our planned BBQ has changed as Linda and Randy left us unexpectedly this morning!  Bob and Jill arranged a get together for this evening and an early departure tomorrow for Winnipeg.  After more than 2 months traveling, Randy booked a flight home to Florida!!!

Pam, Mark's sister, arrives this evening from Minneapolis!

Pam arrived around 8:30 pm and joined the patio party!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 2013

It's going to be a hot one!!!  We're off to Kenora's farmers market this morning, before the heat of the day!

Grocery shopping done and put away!  Randy and Linda have gone sunbathing ... time to  R E L A X

Wayne is at Kenora's air show today, so Sue, Julie, Mark, Linda and Randy enjoyed sitting on the dock and swimming!  The water is 70!  Sue gave Randy a towel to cover his head while in the water ... lovely. LOL

At 5:30 we drove to Boston's in Kenors for pizza. Yummy!  Back home by 7:30 and onto the dock for the evening show of the loon family ... with two babies!

JULY 2, 2013

Today, Mark and Julie are driving to Kenora ... Linda and Randy are hitching a ride to Bob and Jill Kalika's in Clearwater Bay!

We had a wonderful time with our friends, Les and Lynne Stevenson and enjoyed Winnipeg sights.  Our plans are to see them at the lake!

Plans change ... Jill has the flu so Randy and Linda are spending a night at Chippy's.  Sue laughed and said they missed us all.

Dad's old bottle of white rum has been at the cottage for years but finally got finished at Happy Hour on the dock.  Then to Kurian's screened room for dinner.

Jim Gauthier arrived to take everyone for a pontoon boat ride!  Nice.

CANADA DAY 146 ... WINNIPEG

Our plans today include a visit to Winnipeg's Chinatown, established 1909, for dinner then fireworks to celebrate Canada's 146th birthday!

It was a warm summers day. We relaxed and read, went to dinner about 6 and fireworks at 10:30!  A very nice day!!!

Les brought chairs that belonged to our old friend Klaus Moeller to the fireworks for us. Les's chair had a diffuckulty ... LOL ... then mosquitoes swarmed as you can see from his outfit. Haha.
