MAY 12, 2013 - WILLIAMS, AZ to BAKERSFIELD CA - May 12

Humidity here we come !!! Everyone's parched and hacking from this desert dryness ... so, it's time to start for California's coast! There's 60 miles of 2 lane road to travel today, with 450 miles to Bakersfield.

7:00 am, 48 degrees, and we're traveling. Mark is starting to feel better, I'm on the mend but Randy started getting a sore throat, and now Linda. Zicam spray delivered to Sue & Wayne!

Mark, aka "eagle eye", spotted two javelinas and a small herd of prong horn antelope while driving !

10:13 crossed to CALI-FOR-NI-A ... an executive decision has been unanimously made to have rum and orange juice in the Mojave Desert.

12:15 sandwich platter delivered with a big smile by Wayne ... followed 10 minutes later by Sue with coffee. Better than "Sonic" !!! Back on the road with 150 miles to Bakersfield.

Passing Joshua trees ! Strange landscape ... Tehachapi Mountains are huge brown hills dotted sparsely with trees ... for 40 miles, then opens to green fields.

Arrived 4:00 pm to our beautiful resort ... perfectly clean and with "The Crest" restaurant. Randy & Linda treated us to a delicious dinner after our Happy Hour of rum and orange juice. Beautiful evening! We who have coughs took a dram of NyQuil and slept like the dead til 3 am when Julie woke the entire crew hacking. More OJ needed !!!
