We're off on the next leg of our journey ... Texas ! Wayne and Sue have dinner plans with friends in Houston so we shall be the doggie entertainers ... that's no small job with 5 four-legged pals.
We left Hollywood Casino at 8 AM, right on time. Conditions are good for our 379 mile trip today. We found a spot for coffee and chocolate cake at the Atchafalaya welcome center and a spot to walk the dogs at 10:45. Fortunately, we missed the rain that is moving into the area today. Skies are getting brighter and there are pretty pink wildflowers in the grassy median.
Fuel stop in Beaumont Texas ... Wayne had a business call so we're idling ... Arrived at our beautiful RV sites about 4:00, just in time for wine-30. Wayne's friend Scott Monroe owns Marina Bay RV Resort and stopped by to visit ! They've gone to dinner tonight while we cooked pizzas! Tomorrow we will post pics.

APRIL 28, 2013 - NAWLINS ... NEW ORLEANS
Yus sir, youse in NAWLINS !!! Sue and Wayne are staying around the campground today while Linda, Randy, Mark and Julie go sightseeing to New Orleans!!!
The French Quarter is rundown and rather crummy in appearance. We found an outside parking lot for a fair price and walked four blocks to Bourbon Street. Lunch at Oceana was great ... and excellent service. Mark remembered Pat O'Brien's Bar and we found it in time for afternoon liquid refreshments. The outdoor patio was quaint ... Mark found the piano bar he spent some college time in.
Canal Street area was quite beautiful with some trendy shops and restaurants. In all, it was a fun side trip and we arrived back to the RV park about 3 pm.

APRIL 27, 2013 (continued) MISSISSIPPI ...
Just sayin' ... when road maintenance is lacking in 'certain' States, why not ease us into it? OMG, Mississippi roads are awful !!! How about using some casino revenue for roadwork!
Longbeach is pretty ... 15 miles of beachfront ... slabs of former homes after Hurricane Katrina. Diesel $3.55 gallon here! Sweet deal. Garmin gave us a sightseeing tour down a residential street to the Hollywood Casino RV park, but we made it unscathed. LOL. Linda and Randy seemed to enjoy their first day of RVing, at least if I base that statement on their picture. Haha.
Sunday ... enjoyed Randy's Cajun chicken and Swiss cheese panini sandwiches. A brief thunderstorm cleared the party. As you can see, Wayne and Shorty had some time to relax before we all walked to the casino. Sue and Wayne stayed to donate some funds.
The shrimpers are idle today, Sunday, in Pass Christian, Robin Roberts' (ABC's Good Morning America) hometown. We're going to Shaggy's for dinner on the beach. Well Shaggy's is hit ! Great food and apparently good dance music! Sue and Wayne danced ... then Linda and Randy heard their wedding song ! It was a fun night a evidenced by matching SHAGGY'S T-shirts.

APRIL 27 - ALABAMA WITH NO BANJO ...
Cruising along, had a walk at Alabama's welcome center! Wayne's door says he is "Driver for VIP Shih Tzu" ... he's in there with coffee in hand, but, alas, too much glare!
Nice pic of Randy and Linda catching a pre-cocktail nap with just 70 miles to Hollywood Casino RV Resort.

APRIL 27, 2013 ... THE BIG TRIP
It's a perfect 62 degree morning ... clear and sunny. Mark spotted a coyote on a field, while he was driving! We met up with the Kurian's at Lake City ... perfect timing, as we pulled in directly behind them! Linda and Randy are moving over to luxury ride accommodation for the drive!!!
